The cassette is now at the beginning of side A again, having "rewound" it by playing side B. While the "front" side is going forewards, the other is going backwards. You don't hear the other side playing backwards (unless you have a problem) because the tape head only plays the front side.

Cassettes contain thin tape that is 1/8 inch wide. The music is recorded onto the tape in two parallel stripes, for left and right channels. The two stripes take up one half the width of the tape; this is so you can 'flip the cassette over' and record the 2 stripes again on the other half of the tape. (Note: other HALF, not other SIDE.)
